Written by Alan Bennett
Directed by David Burt
Habeas Corpus is a riotous romp concerning a family (the Wicksteeds) and their friends and acquaintances for whom the determination to put sex and the satisfaction of the body before everything else is the ruling passion of their lives. To say the play is a farcical comedy is an understatement, as time and time again in typical Bennett style he takes us through maze of mistaken identity, adding layer upon layer of comedy genius. Fast, funny, relentless laughter from beginning to end , as Arthur Wicksteed says at the close “He who lusts last lasts longest”
